Holland America Line, the No. 1 cruise line for Alaska wildlife and wilderness tours with more than 175 animal sanctuary and sightseeing opportunities, is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Sony Electronics for the 2025 Alaska season. Holland America Line and Sony Electronics have partnered to bring guests an immersive new way to experience Alaska’s awe-inspiring landscapes — through exclusive on-board photography experiences and a specially curated photo contest designed to capture the beauty of the Last Frontier.
“Alaska Through Your Lens” Photo Sweepstakes
As part of this collaboration, Sony and Holland America Line will launch the “Alaska Through Your Lens” photo sweepstakes this season. Guests are encouraged to embrace Alaska’s awe-inspiring landscapes, diverse wildlife and natural wonders through their photography and enter for a chance to win prizes at Sony Alpha Universe, which is Sony’s official online platform to support and inspire photographers who use Sony Alpha cameras.

“For more than 75 years, Holland America Line has been bringing guests to the unparalleled wildlife and breathtaking glaciers that are the natural beauty of Alaska,” said Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer at Holland America Line. “Our collaboration with Sony helps capture Alaska through the lens of our guest and creates experiences too good to hurry through.”
Interactive Pop-up Photography Class
Sony recently hosted an interactive pop-up photography class aboard Holland America Line’s 7-Day Alaska Inside Passage cruise on June 25, 2025, as part of the “We Love Alaska” onboard experience. Led by a Sony Artisan, Colby Brown, the exclusive class held aboard Zaandam offered guests professional insights and hands-on practice with Sony’s state-of-the-art equipment.
Participants sharpened their photography skills while capturing breathtaking shots of Alaska’s glaciers, landscapes, wildlife and scenic vistas. With Sony’s Creators’ Cloud transfer feature via smartphone application, guests instantly saved and shared their images with friends and family. For added convenience, a condensed version of the class will also be available on stateroom TVs fleetwide.
“At Sony, we believe in the power of photography to not just capture, but to evoke the deep emotions of our world — this is the essence of our Kando mission,” said Yang Cheng, Vice President, Imaging Solutions at Sony Electronics. “Through our collaboration with Holland America Line, we offer guests the chance to embark on an unforgettable adventure through Alaska’s breathtaking landscapes, towering glaciers and majestic wildlife. With our cutting-edge technology, we hope they’ll capture those awe-inspiring moments that stir the soul, sharing the beauty of the Last Frontier in ways that connect deeply with their emotions.”
Spotlight on Alaska’s Glaciers
Holland America Line offers more glacier experiences than any other cruise line. “Glacier Day” occurs once per cruise on every Alaska cruise, putting a spotlight on the majestic glaciers of the region. Every Alaska cruise includes a visit to one or more of the state’s iconic glacier destinations, and shore excursions offer the opportunity to visit even more glaciers.
More Opportunities to See Alaska Wildlife than Any Other Cruise Line
Holland America Line offers more ways to see the wildlife of Alaska. Holland America Line carries a wildlife expert on board to help guests witness the majestic animals found in Alaska, including whales, eagles, bears, moose, otters, seals, sea lions, and more. A wildlife spotting guide points out the native animals found along the cruise route, and a map with the best places to see each species is included.
