Cruise & Travel Lifestyles publisher, Vanessa Lee, spoke to Alberto Aliberti of Atlas Ocean Voyages, a brand new cruise line that is set to debut this summer, about their plans to be a luxe-adventure, expedition company at sea. Read on!
Atlas Ocean Voyages is a brand-new Expedition Cruise Line. Please tell our readers more about your cruising focus and the ships we can expect to join the fleet.
Atlas Ocean Voyages is a new luxe-adventure expedition cruise brand that is designed for experienced, curious and fun-seeking travellers. For those who have seen it all and done it all, Atlas will deliver brand new experiences in the new era of travel.
Our first and new, small expedition ship, World Navigator, launches in July 2021 and will bring guests on immersive adventures in some of the world’s most captivating, bucket-list destinations. And we have an aggressive growth plan to have four additional sister ships under construction or on order – all scheduled for delivery by the end of 2023. With more ships, Atlas will expand the array of global bucket-list destinations where we will deliver new and unforgettable luxe-adventure journeys.
You describe your cruise company as a luxe-adventure brand. Tell us what “luxe-adventure” is.
Luxe-adventure is a category-of-one we created to deliver a new style of travel, which we’ve designed to perfectly balance luxury with bucket-list adventures. By day, we bring guests to immerse in historic and breathtaking scenery and deliver an opportunity for a transformative experience. And luxe-adventure expeditions can also be as relaxing or as active as guests would like, depending on their wishes. On board, guests will be pampered in our ship’s elegance and cared for with Atlas’ hallmark personalized and attentive service.
Your company offers an expansive all-inclusive concept. Could you amplify this point?
Locally inspired gourmet cuisine, premium wines and spirits, international beers and premium coffee and teas, prepaid gratuities, wireless internet access, and more, are all included aboard World Navigator. We call this our All Inclusive All The Way commitment. But Atlas is taking it one step further. We also include round-trip air travel, complimentary shore excursions at every port, and emergency medical evacuation insurance for every guest.
In the new era of travel, all-inclusiveness has greater value, and Atlas is delivering immense value with All Inclusive All The Way. We take care of our guests from the moment they arrive at their home airport so they have the peace-of-mind that they are safe and taken care of while on a seamless adventure. If their flight is delayed or even the unforeseeable should happen, guests can be assured that Atlas is already working on their behalf to minimize their delay or make sure they expeditiously receive the appropriate care in case they have a medical emergency.
Alberto Aliberti, CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages
Complimentary air travel, shore excursions, med-evac insurance, gourmet dining and beverages, and more. What more can you include?
One of Atlas Ocean Voyages’ missions is to bring guests to smaller and less-trodden destinations than those other cruise brands, which claim to go to small ports. On select, longer itineraries, we also include complimentary, two- to five-night, mid-voyage tours that bring guests to landmarks and cultural attractions found inland, such as Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan, Kiev and Chernobyl in Ukraine, and Cappadocia and Pamukkale in Turkey. We call these MAX SHORE, and MAX SHORE provides guests deeper immersions into these captivating destinations. It’s a free vacation in a vacation! All Inclusive All The Way also applies on MAX SHOREs, as premium transportation, overnight accommodations, all meals, snacks and beverages, and access are always included on MAX SHOREs.
Where in the world do you plan to sail, and how long will most itineraries be?
World Navigator will sail seven- to 24-night itineraries in the Holy Land, the Black, Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas, and South America for her inaugural summer 2021 season. She continues with nine- and 12-night Antarctica expeditions in winter 2021/22. For Antarctica, we’ve also innovated, by chartering our own wide-body jet aircraft and will fly guests directly from the U.S. to Ushuaia, Argentina. This eliminates an extended layover to and from the ship, so guests enjoy a more seamless Antarctica experience. Additionally, guests enjoy Atlas’ signature elegant and enjoyable service as soon as they board our charter jet, also part of our All Inclusive All The Way commitment.
I know Safety and Health practices are exceedingly crucial to you, Alberto, as is sustainability and providing a suitably green environment and reduced footprint.
Yes, the health and safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. World Navigator is being built with the latest and most modern hygiene technology and cleanliness protocols to help ensure a safe and worry-free experience when guests stay with us. Our ships also offer one of the industry’s highest space-to-guest ratio for social distancing and our shore excursions are conducted in very small groups. World Navigator and her sister ships also will employ the latest engineering and technology to sustain the unparalleled destinations we visit for future generations to enjoy also. The state-of-the-art, onboard hybrid power generation and management system allows our ships to consume as low as one-fifth the fuel compared to conventional engines.
From the beginning, our goal is to build the cleanest, safest and quietest expedition ships to meet and exceed the needs and strict requirements of the regions where our ships sail.
